Our Honeymoon/Vacation

Many of you already know that Kaci and I were able to take our honeymoon! We flew in to Portland, Oregon got a rental for a week and drove down the Oregon and California Coast (Hwy 101 S) to San Francisco, CA.  In 7 days we put 1400 miles on the car and took 1400 pictures. Kaci and I will and pick what we believe to be the best pictures to save you lots of time....trust me =].

So anyways this will be the first installment of many posts of which may take months. We all now how good I am at keeping up on this =]. Most of the posts will be all pictures, some will have captions if I feel it's necessary but lets be honest, most probably won't, haha.

So here we go, these pictures will be from our first night and half of our first day. We arrived in Portland, OR at about 5:45 pm so by the time we got our rental (2011 Chevy Impala) and headed out of the airport, it was close to 6:30 pm. The drive from Portland out to the coast was pretty awesome. Very minimal traffic and driving through a lot of forest on a two lane road. Oh, and the weather.... you are all welcome because we brought the weather back with us.

And here is our car

Oh and none of these pictures do justice for how amazing it is out there.... And a big thanks to my sister Amy. She let us borrow her camera so we could get some really good pictures.

Between Portland and the coast

Our first view of the ocean! Kaci's first time =] We made it just in time before dark

First morning

Yaquina Head Lighthouse (from the distance obviously)

Amy also gave us her tripod for the camera. I liked it......
Also this was call #1 to Amy who said call Julie to find out how to use the timer on the camera. Thanks sisters!

Me playing with the focus a little bit (yes, I actually wanted us to be blurry)

And now clear....

Seals just off the shore from Yaquina Lighthouse/Cobblestone beach

Yaquina Head Lighthouse

So Kaci took this picture but neither one of us actually read it.
Whoops! Should have taken pictures of our jeans afterwards, they weren't kidding. We both got hit at a little over ankle high.

View from down on the beach

Just a little further out from that big rock Kaci and I did get to see a blue whale!
He was only about 75 yards out from shore and came up about every 5 minutes.  We definitely got lucky because they aren't typically around this time of year.

Hey look, another tripod picture =]

And another....

In this picture you can the beach. It is awesome! No sand, just thousands of amazing cobblestones.

Kaci getting some different angles
And another great picture of the cobblestones

So probably the coolest thing about Cobblestone beach was the waves coming in and then trickling back down the rocks as the tide went down. It made a beautiful sound that you will never forget. Unfortunately we both forgot to get a video of it! It is something you should all go listen to.

  2. These photos are gorgeous. For someone without a DSLR of their own, you've done very well photographing. I'm so glad you used the tripod, you'll love looking back on the pictures of the two of you.
